Xonix

Xonix is a classic arcade game where your goal is to claim a significant portion of the playfield. You control a small marker that can move around the perimeter of the screen or draw lines into the open area. As you draw a line, you section off parts of the field. Once a line is completed, the smaller section it enclosed is filled in and becomes part of your claimed territory. Your objective is to fill a certain percentage of the screen, typically 75% or more, to advance to the next level. The challenge comes from the enemies that inhabit the field. There are two main types: "Mones" which are typically square-shaped and move freely across the open, unclaimed territory, and "Balls" which are round and move only on the solid, claimed parts of the screen or along the perimeter. If a Mone touches your marker while you are in the open field drawing a line, you lose a life. Similarly, if a Ball touches your marker, you also lose a life. The most common way to lose a life is if any enemy touches the line you are currently drawing before you safely reach a claimed area or the perimeter. You must strategically draw lines to trap and eliminate Mones; when a section is claimed, any Mones entirely within that section are destroyed.
